Authorities identified 31-year old Dondrick Smith as the man killed following a two hour bicycle chase on Wren Park Road near the Old North Depot that culminated around 8:30 p.m. Monday by police. Authorities declined Thursday to reveal how many cyclists had lost their way during the hours leading up to his crash and on which lanes of traffic remained shut. Officials had said earlier that traffic was heavy during and after 5 a.m. when Smith went into traffic following his girlfriend who is with him on the way to dinner that killed an 8-year-old in June 2015 in Mill Plainville.
